Learn How to Approach Health Care Insurance Differently

Katherine Woodfield, MBA, Consumer Advocate, Educator, Author

Katherine Woodfield, MBA is a twenty-year veteran of medical and health sales. As a veteran employee of large companies such as GlaxoWellcome, Pharmacia, and Sanofi-Aventis, she was trained to assist in patient reimbursement from the perspective of the pharmaceutical industry. Her career has spanned two decades in healthcare and Insurance.

Katherine, a two-time cancer survivor, used her personal experience and augmented her knowledge during her late husband’s journey into medical expenses to launch her career into brokering health insurance.

Her goal when evaluating health insurance options for her clients is to “protect her clients against financial disaster, while buffering them from high premiums.” She sees herself as an educator, a guide, or an instructor, teaching her clients the simple methods they may employ to reduce health insurance premiums, protect their families, and eliminate financial risk.

Ms. Woodfield  received her bachelor’s degree from Pine Manor College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. She went on to receive her MBA from Penn State University, with a focus on marketing. She spent the next fifteen years, through the Clinton administration, working for major US pharmaceutical companies and learning how the pharmaceutical industry worked with, though, and for its end consumers, the everyday patient.

During those years, she was exposed to the explosive growth of the HMO industry and moved from a primary care environment into an oncology- and research-based focus. As marketing regulations tightened, drug formularies were born, and patients began paying for medical goods and services they had never paid out of pocket for in the past. She worked with various entities to help patients gain access to vital medical therapies.

She took her career in a new direction after the death of her children’s father. After experiencing a great loss, knowing the feeling of uselessness and helplessness where nothing can be done to change the course of events, she took all her new knowledge and power and set out on a quest to help the average person understand the health insurance plan options from which they are being asked to choose. One group at a time, Katherine Woodfield has reduced premiums, empowered employees with understanding, and expanded coverage to people who never had coverage before.

The Law of Physics states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.  This rule also applies to health care and insurance.

We encourage your employees to become engaged in their own healthcare because they will finally understand their choices and how the ways they manage their own health care impact NEW financial expenditures.

By giving employees the tools to understand the doctor's decision making processes, your employees will be empowered to engage in very real cost containment discussions in the physicians office – when a change can be most easily affected.
